We are looking for a skilled and motivated Night HGV Technician to join a professional after hours workshop team in Birmingham. This is a great opportunity for an experienced HGV Mechanic or Commercial Vehicle Technician who enjoys working nights, taking ownership of jobs and delivering high quality repairs with minimal supervision. The role plays a key part in keeping customer fleets moving by reducing downtime and ensuring vehicles are safe and roadworthy.

Key Responsibilities of a Night HGV Technician

  • Carry out servicing maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers during night shifts

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical electrical and hydraulic faults efficiently

  • Complete MOT preparations inspections and related repairs

  • Ensure all work is completed in line with manufacturer standards and DVSA requirements

  • Accurately complete job cards service records and workshop documentation

  • Maintain a clean safe and organised workshop environment

  • Work independently while maintaining strong productivity and quality standards

Skills and Qualifications for a Night HGV Technician

Essential

  • Proven experience working on HGVs and commercial vehicles

  • Strong diagnostic and fault finding skills

  • Ability to work confidently on night shifts with minimal supervision

  • Positive attitude and commitment to high quality workmanship

Desirable

  • HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence

  • Experience working in a structured or main dealer style workshop environment
