HGV Technician

Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Salary: £25.18 per hour - £58,200
Shift: Monday to Friday, 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM

We are looking for a reliable HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Technician to join a busy, well-equipped night-shift workshop in Stoke-on-Trent. This permanent role offers hands-on experience with HGVs and trailers, advanced diagnostics, and a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing and inspections to VOSA standards

• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults accurately

• Repair HGVs, trailers, and related components

• Attend roadside breakdowns and customer sites as required

• Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards

• Work with the parts department to source components

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop

• Complete job cards, service sheets, and reports accurately

• Keep up to date with technical training and manufacturer developments

Skills and Qualifications

Essential

• Previous experience as an HGV Technician, Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Technician

• Confident with diagnostics, fault finding, and repairs

• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team

• Attention to detail and focus on quality and safety

Desirable

• Full HGV (Class 1 or 2) or PSV driving licence

• Experience with diagnostic software and fault-code tools
