We’re looking for a skilled and reliable HGV Technician to join a busy, well-equipped commercial vehicle workshop in Stoke-on-Trent. This is a full-time, permanent role offering fantastic progression opportunities, high-spec equipment, and a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities of a HGV Technician
Carry out routine servicing and inspections to VOSA standards
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults accurately and efficiently
Perform repairs on HGVs, trailers, and related components
Attend roadside breakdowns and customer sites when required
Ensure all work is completed safely and to the highest standard
Work closely with the parts department to source necessary components
Keep the workshop clean, safe, and well-organised
Complete job cards, service sheets, and reports with accuracy
Stay updated with technical training and manufacturer developments
Skills and Qualifications for a HGV Technician
Essential
Previous experience working as a HGV Technician or in a commercial vehicle workshop
Level 3 NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance
Confident with diagnostics, fault finding, and repair
Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and safety
Desirable
Full HGV (Class 1 or 2) or PSV driving licence
Experience using diagnostic software and fault-code reading tools
