HGV Technician
Location: West Thurrock
Salary: £60,500 basic + overtime and call-out (OTE £80,000)
Shift: 1 week in 3 on call-out, 2 weeks on rotating shifts (06:00–15:30 and 12:30–22:00)
Hours: 45 hours per week
Pay Breakdown
Basic hourly rate: £25.86
Overtime: Time and a half (£38.79) | Double time (£51.72)
Call-out payment: £25 per call-out
We’re looking for an experienced and dependable HGV Technician with Call Out experience to join a busy commercial workshop in West Thurrock. This is an excellent opportunity to boost your earnings with a regular call-out rota, while working within a supportive and well-equipped environment.
Key Responsibilities of an HGV Technician with Call Out
Service and repair a wide range of HGVs to DVSA standards
Attend roadside breakdowns and deliver effective solutions
Use diagnostics tools to identify and resolve mechanical issues
Complete service records, compliance paperwork, and job cards accurately
Maintain a clean, safe and professional working environment
Work closely with colleagues to maximise efficiency
Skills and Qualifications for an HGV Technician with Call Out
Essential
Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent
Strong background in HGV diagnostics, servicing and repairs
Previous call-out or breakdown experience
Full UK manual driving licence
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
Experience working in a dealership environment
IRTEC qualification
