HGV Technician

Location: Nottingham
Salary: £42,000 to £52,000
Hours: Monday to Friday, alternating shifts 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm
Shifts: Alternate Saturdays 6am to 12pm paid at overtime rate
Job Type: Permanent

Responsibilities of an HGV Technician

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on HGVs and trailers

  • Diagnose and repair faults to VOSA and MOT standards

  • Attend roadside breakdowns and customer site call-outs

  • Work closely with the parts department to source and fit components

  • Accurately complete job cards and service records on time

  • Follow health and safety guidelines and depot procedures

  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment

  • Keep up to date with technical training and product knowledge

Requirements for an HGV Technician

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or time-served experience)

  • Strong knowledge of HGVs, trailers and mechanical systems

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Good awareness of health and safety in a workshop setting

  • Ability to work to deadlines and perform under pressure

  • Strong teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills

Desirable

  • IRTEC inspection licence
