Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic, HGV Technician, LGV Fitter, Truck Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or Fleet Technician to join a busy and professional commercial vehicle workshop in Portsmouth. This permanent, full-time night shift role offers excellent pay, structured training, career progression, and the chance to work on a wide range of heavy goods vehicles, trailers, and fleet vehicles in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service, maintain, and repair HGVs, LGVs, trailers, and commercial fleet vehicles to VOSA, DVSA, and manufacturer standards

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults efficiently

  • Perform routine inspections, MOT preparation, and compliance checks

  • Maintain accurate job cards, service records, and workshop documentation

  • Use diagnostic and workshop tools effectively for fault-finding

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure workshop productivity and smooth workflow

  • Participate in ongoing technical and manufacturer-led training

Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent

  • Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic, HGV Technician, LGV Fitter, Truck Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or Fleet Technician

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills

Desirable:

  • HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence

  • IRTEC accreditation

  • Experience working with dealer-level diagnostic tools

  • Previous fleet or main dealer experience
