Mobile HGV Technician

Location: CF, NP, LD postcode areas (Cardiff, Newport, Llanelli and surrounding South Wales)
Salary: From £18 per hour depending on experience plus overtime, standby and callout bonuses – on target earnings up to £60,000 per year
Hours: 40 hours per week, 24/7 on-call rota covering nights, weekends and holidays
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Join a busy 24/7 mobile HGV repair service as a Mobile HGV Technician covering CF, NP and LD postcode areas including Cardiff, Newport and Llanelli. Start your journey with 8-12 weeks in the workshop gaining expert diagnostic and product knowledge before moving fully mobile with a company van and fuel card. You will deliver high quality roadside repairs, servicing and maintenance to a variety of heavy and light goods vehicles.

Key responsibilities

  • Rapid diagnosis and repair of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults on HGVs and light commercial vehicles

  • Attend and resolve roadside breakdowns and maintenance calls

  • Complete servicing and maintenance tasks to industry and safety standards

  • Keep accurate job records and maintain communication with control and customers

  • Adhere to strict health, safety and roadside safety procedures

Skills and qualifications

Essential

  • Proven experience as an HGV or mobile fleet technician, mobile mechanic or breakdown technician

  • Strong mechanical, electrical and diagnostic skills for heavy and light commercial vehicles

  • Excellent roadside safety awareness and adherence to safety procedures

  • Good communication skills and customer-focused attitude

  • Current Class 1 (C+E) driving licence

  • Relevant vocational qualifications or certifications (e.g. IMI, City & Guilds)
