Automotive Recruitment

The automotive industry has been headline news these past few months, so we

thought it was only right to sit down with our Automotive recruitment team here at

Tru Talent to bring you some insights into the industry, to show you the huge

potential that exists and some key ways to navigate the hiring landscape during

these times.

We can’t talk about where we are now without mentioning where we’ve been. Over the past 18 months, the automotive industry has been one of the hardest-hit industries out there, suffering huge levels of uncertainty and trepidation. This fear still hangs in the air for many and is in turn causing knock-on effects, not to mention the effects of Brexit too, but we won’t get into that here. However, the good news is the industry is now bouncing back with gusto. We are seeing record levels of demand not only for HGV drivers but for a large variety of roles across the industry from vehicle technicians, paint sprayers, panel beaters, vehicle assessors, showroom and sales staff to mention just a few.

The high level of fear that still perpetuates the industry is causing many to remain where they are in their current roles even with the potential of better opportunities in their grasp. We understand this fear all too well at Tru Talent because the recruitment sector was also a heavily hit industry over the past 2 years. With this being said, we think you should hear from our head of automotive recruitment Ben Price. Ben Feels that as the automotive industry continues to bounce back with force there are currently more opportunities available than there are skilled and experienced candidates to fill them. This is a great time to explore progression within the sector and even entertain other roles with different companies. However, this abundance of opportunities won’t last forever. Ben encourages you to not be the last. You haven’t got to be the first but just don’t be the last to explore these opportunities.

We understand it can be hard to know where to start when exploring your next step, here are two key points to consider before you begin:

1. Choose a consultant that is right for you. Choosing a specialist is key to the level of success you’ll experience during the hiring process. Our automotive specialists have over 10 years of experience in the industry across many different sub-sectors. They have a wealth of industry knowledge and connections that they fully utilise to help you land that next dream job. They work passionately on your behalf and have the ability to highlight progression and opportunities you may not have thought of yet. Our recruitment specialists are consultants first and foremost, they are equipped to guide and support you at every stage of the journey but most importantly they seek to truly understand you and what you are looking for in your next role. We have and will always stand behind the mantra of “People over profit”, that’s why you can be confident that you will never be seen as a number here at Tru Talent and your desires will be at the forefront of our consultant's minds as they share with you the best opportunities available.

2. Spend some time, do the research. You’ll be able to build a much better picture of exactly what you want in all aspects of your next role by taking the time to think deeply and do some research. Go beyond salary and location and dive deep into all the aspects of a potential new position. Many have come to realise that salary is no longer the most important factor when considering a new position. Over the past 18 months, we have learned how vital a healthy work-life balance is and how this is key to our overall wellbeing. Don’t get us wrong, salary is still very important but flexibility, understanding, good facilities, training and development along with well-being and mental health provisions are just a few of the areas we know are now key qualities candidates are seeking and in turn employers are now delivering for a better, happier and healthier work-life.

If you are looking for progression, considering a new role, or looking to enter the automotive industry our team would love to hear from you. Reach out to them for an informal conversation or drop them a line via email to explore these exciting new opportunities. If it’s fear that’s standing in your way we encourage you to make that first small step, we have all you need to help you overcome that fear and secure a great new position.
